Tommy Sowers outraises Jo Ann Emerson 12:1:

Yesterday, federal candidates filed the Pre-General Election report, covering the period 10/1-10/13.  During that time, Tommy Sowers raised $57,773 and Jo Ann Emerson raised only $4,878 (12:1).  As of 10/13, the two campaigns’ cash on hand was essentially even with Sowers at $267K and Emerson at $272K. In the last quarter ending 9/30/10, Sowers was one of only six Democratic House challenger candidates in the country to raise more than their Republican opponent.

Campaign Manager Jonathan Feifs commented:

“Our grassroots army continues to give us the ammunition we need to keep fighting this race. We raised more funds than Emerson last quarter, and in the first part of October we’ve done it again. While our momentum continues to grow, her support is shallow and disappearing. That’s what happens when the special interests, and not the people, are on your side.

“Unlike a lot of races out there, we have never expected or relied on outside funding. We built the army we need to win this race, and they continue to sustain us as we race to the finish line.”

In the last week Kennett, MO native and singing superstar Sheryl Crow has given her support to the campaign, as has Bradley Whitford, star of the popular television show “The West Wing.” In a video urging people to support Tommy Sowers with donations and “get out the vote” support, Whitford says:

“Tommy served two tours in Iraq as an Army Ranger. He was a professor at West Point… This guy is exactly the kind of leader that we need in Washington right now. Tommy’s bright, Tommy’s articulate, Tommy’s battle-tested tough. He doesn’t know what quit means. He’s put his life on the line for this country and he’s ready to serve the people in Missouri’s 8th.”
