On Wednesday Tommy Sowers will kick his third Boots on the Ground (BOTG) operation into high gear, visiting all 28 counties of the 8th District in the last week of the campaign. Sowers’ first BOTG operation took him to all 28 counties in 28 days to work a different job, including planting cotton, castrating a calf and assembling vacuum cleaners. His second BOTG operation took him to all 28 counties in 28 days for a town hall and in his third BOTG operation, the March for Main Street, Sowers is canvassing downtown businesses in all 28 counties in the last week of the campaign. Tommy Sowers released the following statement:
“We’re doing the March for Main Street for Boots on the Ground 3 because the future of Main Street is what this election is all about. It’s time to retire Congresswoman Emerson. She’s been there too long and her record of bad trade deals, bailouts and lost jobs demonstrates that she does not deserve reelection. We need to send new blood to get the job done. I’m a native, a veteran, a teacher and a leader and I will be fighting for the middle class, not the special interests that Congresswoman Emerson represents.
“We will finish this campaign the way we started it, in true grassroots fashion. I’m racing across the district in my truck meeting folks and asking for their votes. I’m on the phone calling undecided voters and answering their questions. People like that I’m working hard for this; it proves to voters how hard I’ll work to represent them once elected.”
Sowers is inviting supporters and interested community members to come out and meet him on the campaign trail. His schedule will be available here: Boots on the Ground website.
Today the Sowers campaign also sent out a video to supporters that dates back to the beginning of the campaign. The video, entitled “Teacher,” features an interview with Tommy Sowers where he discusses democracy, teaching and why he decided to run for Congress. The video can be viewed here: Tommy Sowers teacher video.
