KZIM-KSIM: Candidate Tommy Sowers continues to place his Boots on the Ground

February 03, 2010

Former military man Tommy Sowers is in the midst of a special initiative this month of spending 28 days and night in all 28 counties in Missouri’s 8th Congressional District. The democrat is running this year against Jo Ann Emerson. He started his “Boots on the Ground” event January 20th. He traversed through Southeast Missouri last week and spent Monday in Fredericktown, working at Cap America. Sowers tells KZIM KSIM this month-long journey is about listening to employers, workers, farmers, and businesspeople about their needs for the district in the future. Sowers says the “Boots on the Ground” concept is derived from his stint in the military, where it was more important working side-by-side with the people. Sowers will travel to Iron and Reynolds counties in the coming days and end his trip on the 16th in Phelps County. Last quarter, he raised 179-thousand-dollars in contributions to his campaign, 98-percent of that came from individuals.
