Tommy Sowers, a veteran running for Congress in Missouri’s 8th District, goes on offense in a new television commercial that began airing today. He had the following to say about the ad:

“I am looking forward to voters seeing the ad and learning about our campaign and why I’m running for office. I want voters to know who I am: a born and raised Missourian, a man of faith and a veteran.”


“I hope the ad encourages voters to pay attention to this race and learn more about my plan to bring new blood to Washington and jobs back to Southeast Missouri.”


The ad also discusses Tommy Sowers’ opponent, incumbent Congresswoman Jo Ann Emerson.

“Jo Ann Emerson has sold out the people of Southeast Missouri. It is time to end the Emerson bailouts,” Sowers said. "She can run but she can't hide from the truth."

Sowers added: "Jo Ann Emerson publicly claims to be a small-government, fiscal conservative but has a history of supporting taxpayer-funded bailouts, whether they’re for Wall Street or poorly-managed pensions. It’s time for voters to learn the facts about Jo Ann Emerson, and that’s what our ad does.”


“I don’t support bailouts and will work to renegotiate the job-killing trade deals that Jo Ann Emerson voted for. Unlike Emerson, I am supported by individuals, not the big special interests."

Sowers, an 11-year Army Special Forces veteran, is running for Congress against incumbent Jo Ann Emerson, a former insurance lobbyist from Washington, DC. Tommy Sowers is the Democratic candidate for Missouri’s 8th Congressional district.
